Songs of Ascent Pslam 130

The Songs of Ascent up to Jerusalem, where the Jewish people were to go to present themselves before the LORD 3 times each year at the appointed times God gave them. I have been looking at this with an eye toward our own Christian ascending to Zion as "one new man" Jews and Gentiles IN Messiah in the appointed time at the end before Yeshua returns to sit on the throne in Jerusalem.

What I notice about this Psalm 130 is that they are ascending to Zion but still talking to God about redemption from their enemies. We are very close now - there are only 4 more Psalms of Ascent.

Psalm 130 Waiting for the Redemption of the Lord

1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
2 Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications
3 If You, Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.
6 My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning-
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
8 And He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Do not doubt God's capacity to forgive us. He knows our frame and how even the best of us is not yet made perfect. I would put my faith in God's redemption only rather than any human being I know who rarely have taken grasp of His capacity and demand for forgiveness among us.

There is no power in victimhood. It may look like you hold a certain power for a while, but it will disappear and you will still be a prisoner of a victim identity.

Forgiveness on the other hand takes great strength of faith in trusting God who demands that we forgive others as He has forgiven us. It may look like weakness to you now, but if you choose to hang on to your victim justification, you will experience great weakness until you repent, throw it off and forgive, so you can be forgiven again by God. It is the one thing God will not do: keep forgiving you while you keep holding tightly to your unforgiveness. It is poison and brings death to us, that is why God insists we forgive others even as He has forgiven us.

Unforgiveness is a much great deal to God than most of us realize. That's why we think we can justify the unforgiveness we hold onto.
