The Songs of Ascent are for us as we go together up to Zion because we must rise above the level we were at when we began to make this journey together. Our journey together is to enter the Holy City, "the Jerusalem from above" that is coming down IN us. It is NOT a new Jerusalem cityscape of buildings, but it is Zion: God's vision realize made of the "living stones" of the temple of the Lord, Yeshua, King of Kings.
Psalm 131 Simple
Trust in the Lord
1 Lord, my heart is not proud,
Nor my eyes arrogant.
Neither do I walk in great matters,
Nor with things too difficult for me.
2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
I remember when verse 2 became alive for me. It was in
the mid-1980's in a house we lived when we were still going to the first church after our return to God. Yeshua came to bring us peace in the midst of the storm, but
we have to learn to quiet our own soul in the hope of the Lord. That is what my
journey has taught me. Our hope is in the Lord, with time our trust in Him grows. He is ever with us for our good.
