The prayers of the uninformed do hurt.
Many hear them and are influenced to believe this is the "spiritual" route. Some believe they can pray for peace to prevail in the Middle East so all the Jews and Arabs can come to the knowledge of the LORD, implying this war is unnecessary. It is not true, and if they knew their Bible, they would realize that is just the OPPOSITE of what God has said prophetically will be the case in the last of the last days.
The nations are already pressuring Israel to back off, let the Hamas terrorists off the hook, so no innocents will be killed as collateral damage. When Christians begin to take up the same theme in their prayers, how long will it be before demands are made that Israel stop immediately? Not long. And it will turn even more Christians and nations to become enraged against Israel.
The reality that Christians who pray like this can't see is because they have dismissed the Hebrew scriptures - as well as any New Covenant scripture that includes input about Israel's place in God's plans. If the veil was removed from their eyes, they would be able to look over the reality of the situation Israel is in today and recognize these are the building blocks of Zechariah 12:3 "On that day, when all the nations of the earth gather against her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who would heave it away will be severely injured."
Israel is currently in a 7-front war: the first front is with Hamas in Gaza. The other 6 are Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), Iraq, Yemen and Iran. All of these are participating in warring against Israel AT THIS TIME. Israel will be facing several of them as immediately as they remove the Hamas threat.
God will restrain them by His Hand as we pray in accord with that mercy on Israel. Israelis will continue to see that there hope is only in Him and will awaken to the Messiah. Seeing Christians praying as the prophetic Word of God over Israel will be a great part in the removal of the veil over Jewish eyes to the identity of Israel's Messiah. So also will the example of the Messianic Jewish Israelis in their midst who are sharing the Gospel.
But too many Christians are praying "Peace, peace, when there is no peace." Can't pray peace over the season God has declared to be the season for war, the season to pluck up."
Pray for the salvation of Arabs - many are marked by God for salvation, but they have to be brought out from the rule of terrorists, who for the majority, will never come to the wells of salvation. Their choice of evil already made. Israel cannot make peace with those intent on the annihilation of Israel and Jews in every place they still remain in the nations.
Ezekiel 13:9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
10 Because they have led My people astray, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and whitewashing any flimsy wall that is built, 11 tell those whitewashing the wall that it will fall. Rain will come in torrents, I will send hailstones plunging down, and a windstorm will burst forth.
