The Will of God is Taught in the Word of God

You do realize that you can never know the will of God by listening to the Spirit only? That's because the Holy Spirit is not the only one with access to speak to you in thoughts. There is also the human spirit of your own thoughts and there are demonic thoughts that have access to every person's mind. They love putting on spiritual airs as they speak as if they were God. Demonic spirits can't read your mind, but they can speak demonic reasoning into your thoughts just like they did in the Garden of Eden speaking to Eve. Thoughts that lead you away from God, not toward God.

Why was Eve not able to refute what the serpent told her about the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? Because "She erred when she added that even 'touching the fruit would lead to death.' The serpent took advantage of her error, but it seems Adam did teach her God's word."

Because Eve ate from the tree and enticed her husband Adam to compromise God's instructions, all humanity now eats from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. Compromising God's Will doesn't kill us instantly, and if we don't repent, how great is our fall.

The ONLY thing that stands between our compromise of God's Will is not knowing what His Will actually is. In other words rejecting the very Word God gave to Moses and the all the people He chose to walk in His Will. So many Christians reject the Hebrew scriptures completely, thinking, "We have the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, what do we need God's Word for?" If we are really listening to the Holy Spirit, He will guide us into all truth BY God's Word. Selah.

God told Adam what not to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, but He did not speak the same to Eve. Adam was expected to lead his wife and family into knowing the Word of God. Instead Adam compromised what he knew to be forbidden by God's own Word and comprised his relationship with God by allowing his wife lead him astray in her ignorance of God's Word.

We have a special problem with the same thing in believer families to this day: family members who know the Word of God compromising it because of other family members ignorance of God's will. It is a sticky and widespread problem, but we need to seek God for the answer to how to show love to family members without compromising either our relationship with God or with God's Word. If we cannot be counted on to stand faithfully with God's Word then our family will never follow after us toward God.
