Canary in a Coal Mine: Israel Heating up

/Yeshua’s Inheritance congregation BeerSheva

Thank-you for your prayers for the nation of Israel!  In the faithfulness and goodness of God to keep His covenant promises, He has been protecting Israel providentially way beyond what we normally appreciate. Just this Sonday morning, a missile fired from Yemen by the Houthis actually landed within the Ben-Gurion Airport area! ....once again, a major tragedy was averted: what if the missile had hit a plane; or had hit the terminal building?! Of course the Houthis are telling Israel that until Israel stops fighting against Hamas in Gaza, they will continue to target Israel.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, on Holocaust Memorial Day eve, arsonists started a huge wildfire that destroyed thousands of acres of forest and agricultural fields. Many residents around Beit Shemesh (think Samson) and the Jerusalem area were evacuated. But the Lord prevented deaths, and the fire was brought under control in a couple of days.
Then exactly one week later, on Memorial Day eve, during ceremonies remembering all those who have lost their lives protecting Israel from wars and terror without, and from fires and terror within, again arsonists are suspected and, in fact, one was caught in the act trying to start a fire. There was an even larger fire around one of the heaviest intersection of highways between the Christian Protestant monastery of Latrun (and also the Catholic monastery there, as well) and up towards Jerusalem, crossing the highway to threaten the Messianic moshav of Yad HaShmonah (where our son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter are currently living), again forcing many to be evacuated.
A national emergency was declared over one of the largest fires in Israel's modern history, and again, no loss of life. . . .It was an apocalyptic scene of raging fires along highways and roads, cars stopped, people running away, abandoning their cars. All this during a "slow" traffic day, being a national memorial day. ...The sovereign Lord Yeshua/Jesus is watching over His people and land, even while He also lets bad things happen that the people might look towards the God of Heaven and Earth, the only One who can make certain that such efforts to destroy His beloved people and land and city will never be attacked for destruction ever again!
Islamic jihad in all its manifestations -- causing fear and lack of peace of mind, waging war, making "peace", education, politics, threats and intimidation, appealing to the lust for money to weaken clear discernment and resolve, sponsorship of major and popular sports teams and tournaments -- all have the objective of destroying and crushing those people, cultures, countries that are not within the Islamic "House of Peace". "If we can't have it, neither will anyone else, especially YOU (the Jews)!"
I have written before that support for Israel cannot be dependent on whether Israel is a "western, pluralistic, liberal democracy".  For one thing, YHVH has called His people to be a kingdom of priests, under HIS sovereign rule. This is not yet; yet, it is what the apostles were referring to when they asked Yeshua before He ascended back to His glory in Heaven:  "Will you at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel?"
It wasn't for that time, but the time is surely coming when He will physically return in the same manner in which He went up to do just that! For another thing, until then, certain things must take place, which have not yet happened; and the generation that sees the fig tree/national Israel put forth leaves will see them:  daily sacrifices; the abomination of desolation and the antichrist; Jacob's Trouble/Great Tribulation, the devil's wrath; the first resurrection and rapture; the Day of the LORD/YHVH, God's wrath on His enemies and of His covenanted people
We may disagree about some of the order, but these things must take place before the Kingdom is restored to Israel. The point, though, is that for sacrifices to take place, it will surely indicate that Israel is not, at that time, a "western, pluralistic, liberal democracy"— but our support for Israel is for the name of the Lord's sake, and of the Father. His name will be sanctified and vindicated when He fulfills His purpose for His chosen people, and that will bring blessing to the entire world, especially for those who are glad about that. (Rom 9 - 11; Hab 2:14).
While there is legitimate criticism to made of any government, in whatever country, support for Israel must be unconditional towards the fulfillment of the great and grand plan of the Creator, YEHOVAH, to redeem and restore His complete "rights" to His own creation and its "way of life", and for all to know Him alone as the one true living God. Those who are complicit in wiping out Israel from being a nation anymore, will find themselves fighting against the God Most High.
The mission that we as believers in Jesus/Yeshua being the Christ/Messiah is take and preach and share the true gospel with any and all, and let the Holy Spirit deal with the outcome of that.
For that, we will need to have Jesus/Yeshua as our first love, and not put any one or thing else between us and Him. (Mt 10:32-39)
For Israel's 77th Independence Day celebration, Nachalat Yeshua/Yeshua's Inheritance went out and joined thousands of other Israelis to a nearby large park, the Beer Sheva River Park, to have a BBQ Israeli-style, and to fellowship together for much of the day. ...Not because any of us here "deserve" any of these good things in God's providential care ...because He is good to the evil and to the good, to the just and to the unjust.
We are hosting a worship evening next week with an "ensemble" of Jewish and Arab singers, composers, and musicians.  Maybe some of you have heard of Leat Sabbah, and of Adeeb Hadad (Sakhnini).  We are very much looking forward to them coming and leading us in praise and worship to our great God, who has made us one in Messiah/Christ!

Arrows from Zion
Summarized from the Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests Israeli Ministries

To continue the thought of Israel being the Canary in the Coal mine for what Christians will be increasingly facing, with regards to the rising aggression of Islamists in nations where they have gained sufficient numbers to intimidate, terrorize and challenge native rule in many cities – many throughout the UK, Europe, Canada and increasingly in the US, like my own State of Texas, we must consider that the arson fires across the US in past months were terrorist actions, not natural outbreaks. Keep this in mind as you pray over Israel’s battles because they are becoming our own battles and we will need God’s help too.
In the first article below, Chaim is being too nice in his title. The truth is, the Nazis did control the church as many Christians backed their vision. Hitler used theologians to justify what Nazis were doing to Jews. Again, this is something we are seeing in the USA as many conservative Christians really are becoming anti-Jew/anti-Israel - especially some of the most highly favored conservative pundits. Chaim reminds us, we have seen this before in Nazi Germany.

Chaim Malespin of the Aliyah Return Center and The Faithful Galileans writes:  How the Nazi Regime tried to control the church …. They went so far as to create a Reich state controlled church and a nazified Bible. The country was predominately Christian, around two-thirds Protestant (Evangelical) and one-third Catholic.
Hitler realized early on that to fully control Germany, he would have to either co-opt or neutralize the influence of the churches. In this Reich state controlled church they removed anything “Jewish” from theology and emphasized nationalism, obedience to authority, and the Führer cult. The Reich Church and pro-Nazi theologians worked to create a cleansed version of the Bible, removing the entire Old Testament, eliminated Jesus’ Jewish identity and anything positive about the Jewish people. Also they removed or altered passages about compassion, humility, and peace and replaced it with submission, obedience, and strength.
. . . . A Pastor named Dietrich Bonhoeffer and other Church leaders rejected the Nazification of the church and the Aryan version of the Bible. They pushed back against the regime despite the risks and fought bravely against it. They founded the Confessing Church who believed in the autonomy of the church, rejected anti semitism and focused on discipleship. . . . Just like Bonhoffer, we need to stand up and speak truth. You can do that right now by liking the Faithful Galileans channel and sharing the videos to your groups….  My friend Jackie Santoro describes being evacuated from the moshav she lives in twice in one week as arson-terrorism destroyed the forests in the Judean hills. In the first she was oblivious to the danger until hearing the noise of men alerting that the moshave had to be evacuated. Jackie writes, “Thankfully, there were no injuries and both times, no homes were lost. It was a miracle.” In the second fire in the woods near the highway “People had abandoned their cars on the highway and quickly roads were being closed. I had been hosting my "Widows" meeting before the fire started but by the time we finished, it was evident we would be evacuated again.” They evacuated to a nearby moshav, but had to be evacuated from there also.  Once again, she writes “the mercy of God prevailed and no houses were touched. After 30 hours of fighting the fire, it was contained and we were able to return the next afternoon. . . . We all were very encouraged by the outpouring of support and concern that came to the local believers as well as the nation as a whole. Please continue to pray that the fire situation will stabilize. There is always the threat of arson terror which is very difficult to control and prevent.
All this was happening in the midst of Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance & Memorial for soldiers killed in battle since the state was formed 77 years ago. The fires ended up quashing a good deal of the normal happy celebration o f Israel’s 77th Independence Day. Then there was the missile from the Houthis in Yemen that came down near Ben Gurion airport. [Even today 5/9 more missiles from Houthis are coming again]. All that and Jackie writes, “there is conflict within and without. Political scandals seem to be getting exposed at a dizzying pace. …the Iranian threat and Israel's desire to eradicate Iran's nuclear ability and President Trump's determination to make a deal. Please join us in praying. And Pray that the remaining living hostages would have supernatural life breathed into them and they would live until they are freed. The spiritual warfare is so very intense right now and we can feel the battle raging in the heavenlies. The demonic presence was very strong with the fires and we know that the enemy is trying desperately to stop the plan of God for this nation and the world.
In the congregation, Ahavat Yeshua, 6 young believers aged 10-12 were baptized in a ceremony at the Jordan river well attended by the congregation, staying for lunch together. The 6 baptized had completed a  6 week course to prepare them. “It was very inspiring to see the hand of God on these young ones and their seriousness and faith.  . . . especially moving to see two children with both their father and grandfather in the water with them. How special to see the generations of believers in this Land. May it continue and increase!  On this past Shabbat, we had a beautiful worship meeting. … These are awesome times and we must keep hope burning in our hearts as we keep our eyes on Him and our feet on the Rock.  I thank you so very deeply for all your support and prayers. Although these are very challenging times and not always easy for me personally, I press on to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Messiah Yeshua. God is doing great things and I rejoice to be a part of this nation, especially in these days as we labor to make His name known.” [Support the ministry | email ]

Beit Hallel evangelistic pastor, Israel Pochtar (also Voice of Judah Israel Ministries) sends an important word on the pivotal moment in the life of Beit Hallel Congregation—a moment we’ve prayed into, sown into, and believed for over many years - We’re just 10 days (5/16) away from securing a permanent Evangelism and Discipleship Center in the heart of Ashdod, one of Israel’s most spiritually strategic cities. … only $150,000—just 11%—remains to close the deal. On Memorial Day Reuven Doron sent a 7 minute video to encourage all God’s people in the midst of troubling times. Reuven is a unique prophetic voice in the Israeli Messianic community – maybe I am biased because I never knew there was a Messianic community until I learned of it through Reuven Doron in the early 1990’s. I consider Reuven a powerfully prophetic voice who needs to be heard. He’s an Israel-born believer whose English is excellent. Here he speaks about God’s word from 2-Chronicles 15:5-7 “"And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands. So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity. But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

DD: If you don’t know, it is a common form of persecution in Israel for religious opposition to the Israeli Messianic believers to be ejected from properties they have been renting for years and done major improvements on. The religious orthodox or ultraOrthodox bring great pressures on the city administrations or the building owners to kick out the Messianic ministries. It doesn’t matter how much humanitarian aid the ministry is doing for the needy in the area, they are out on their ear with no recourse. The only answer to this is for the ministries to purchase properties that can’t be taken from them. The only way they can do that is if Christians in the nations assist them with financial blessing to do so. Over the past 24 years I cannot tell you how many ministries I have seen this persecution inflicted on. Right now is the time to put our stake in the ground with the Israeli Messianic ministries raising funds for the purchase of their own ministry property. Here is one example of a worthy ministry in operation for the past 30 years who will shortly be homeless for their ministry operations.

That is exactly what Avi and Chaya Mizrachi have been facing in Tel Aviv when the religious pressure on their landlord caused them to ejected from their premises of 6 years with only 2 months notice. It creates such a crisis but this 30 year old ministry, Dugit Messianic Outreach Centre is not about to give up. Many of the ministries in the same position have come to the same conclusion: instead of seeing this as a setback, they are setting their eyes on an upgrade for the kingdom! That means plans are in making to find a permanent home for the ministry through purchase in Tel Aviv. “Will you stand with Dugit Outreach Ministries by giving the most generous gift you can today to help raise the $2.5 million needed to purchase a multipurpose ministry building that no one can take away? Please give your BEST GIFT today. When we all do our part, God gets the glory! Be part of what God is doing in Israel.

The first ministry email from new Tiferet Yeshua pastor Moti Cohen in Tel Aviv concerns how the ministry supports the Holocaust survivors in their region several times each year with special events. This Holocaust Memorial Day they hosted 70 Holocaust survivors with a meal and entertainment. “…we have established special friendships with these survivors. We have made clear to them before they come that they will be hosted by Messianic Jewish community. The survivors have told us that they love our holiday events because they feel welcomed with such warmth and love, we prepare them traditional European dishes from their childhoods, and we treat them to special live music (WATCH). However, we know that what is truly touching their hearts is the love of God and the message of hope that we have the opportunity to share with them. These are Russian-speaking holocaust survivors, and each time we host an event, one of our Russian-speaking team members shares an encouraging message with them…. We realize what an amazing privilege it is to host these holocaust survivor events.
“With the shocking rise of antisemitism around the world, we see more clearly the vital importance of Israel's survival. At the same, time we know that this country exists only by the grace of God, and He promised Israel's re-establishment in its ancient borders by His prophets.  There is one huge difference between today and 1948 when Israel declared its independence: today, believers all around the world are standing in the gap for the Jewish nation.

From the Revive Israel community “Memorial Day began with unexpected sorrow close to home — a large fire broke out, forcing our community to evacuate the moshav. Some stayed with family and friends, while others found refuge in the open arms of those who graciously welcomed us into their homes. Even in the midst of flames, we saw His mercy and the kindness of His people.  As we remember the fallen and celebrate Israel’s rebirth, we are also crying out: Lord, send rain — both physical and spiritual. Pour out Your Spirit upon this land. Bring awakening to every heart. Heal, restore, and draw Your people close. . . . The rebirth of Israel is not just history; it’s prophecy fulfilled. We pray that every heart in Israel will turn to the Lord, that the veil will be lifted, and that the light of Yeshua will shine in every home, every city, every soul. May His redemption touch every corner of this land. Will you pray about Partnering with us?

From Leon Mazin, Return to Zion – a briefing:  “Our Branch of Galilee Congregation is in the City of Nof ha-Galil, a Jewish town close to the City of Nazareth and some Arab villages in the Upper Galilee. It is an important strategic place in Israel, and it’s not easy to be a believer in Yeshua there. In developing the Aleph course for such special conditions our goal was to preserve the Jewish nature of the Scripture and Messiah while embracing open and welcoming atmosphere characteristic of Alpha courses.  The program includes from 5 to 7 gatherings featuring games, music, and meaningful discussions. Designed for a home setting with a small group of participants, Aleph emphasizes relationship over numbers. After all, even in Yeshua’s time, thousands came to listen, but only a few chose to follow. We remind ourselves that we are called not to be harvest inspectors, but sowers in God’s field.
The Aleph course was hosted in “Branch of Galilee” Congregation in a warm and hospitable atmosphere with some food and music. The participants explored the story of the Creator’s restored relationship with His creation. At the end of the program some of them bowed their heads in repentance and invited Yeshua the Messiah into their hearts. We pray that the Lord continues to guide each of them, and we’re deeply thankful to everyone who supports this ministry through prayer.

Sally Shiff at the HaMaayan congregation wrote, “I like justice served, that is my character. I enjoy watching crime shows because I like that by the time the series is over, justice is served. In the real world, that is usually not the case, and that causes great stress for me. I am greatly puzzled by the injustice done, and the poor forgotten. Equally, I am grateful that this is God's character as well. God is Righteous and Holy, and wants us to be as well. That is why He sent His Son. But the wheels of justice are often very slow.” She writes that with the slow-going of God’s justice, she is comforted by 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
She writes, “From the beginning of the war, when the IDF entered into Gaza, they told us it would be a long war. The enemy is embedded deep within the culture and structure of Gaza and the rest of Israel. Funded by nefarious regimes, Hamas and the rest of the proxies that are currently fighting Israel have prepared for years with massive stock piles of ammunition and such to take Israel out. It takes time. Couple that with the war of propaganda. I remember writing, warning on October 8, 2023 that you, my dear friends across the world would be called into action either physically or intercessional to fight the antisemitism that will arise in your country. Now look where we are 19 months later. God's justice is slow and thorough. He will prevail, and that is my hope.
I was very encouraged by this interview/discussion with Harmeet Dhillon, the head of the civil rights division of the DOJ. Harmeet Dhillon: Inside Trump Admin’s Shake-Up of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division (Worth the hour long video)

DD: Sally and I share the strong desire to see justice served (and loving crime show series because justice does get served. Another thing we share is the belief that the battles that Israel has to fight are the battles that will come to all our nations and we will face them too. In fact, if you took a snap shot of where these same battles with Islamists tactics to overthrown several nations are, you would be appalled to see what kinds of things are happening, not only on U.S. University campuses, but also throughout my State of TexasIslamist-only communities springing up in dozens of places with the blessing of our conservative state and city officials. Corruption and cluelessness of what they are allowing – like the No-Go Zones in many European and British cities. How can people be so ignorant of how that will turn out for us – just like the European cities now held hostage to violent Islamists controlling the streets.
I just read on X yesterday that
French president “Macron told his inner circle that the way forward for France and Europe is to join the Islamists. ‘We need to give them everything to make them feel comfortable and their culture.’ Macron, in a heated discussion said we can't know who is a radical and who is not, so we need to make them all French - by making sure they feel at home."

Oh, but we CAN know! How is it that governmental leaders in position to protect their people can be that ignorant of historical facts and the religious imperatives that animate this beast religion?

Guy Cohen, born in the city he serves as pastor in the Harvest of Asher congregation, “recently returned from a conference held in Los Angeles, CA where I shared the Word of God and His calling on Israel. One of the main reasons I accepted the invitation to participate was the close proximity to Pirate’s Cove in Newport Beach, CA where a revival took place in the 1970’s. I went to that very location and stood there alone praying and calling out to God for a similar revival to take place in Israel, where thousands would come to receive Yeshua as their Messiah and be baptised.” Looking out over the water “watching the purple waves, I couldn’t help but think of God’s promise in Isaiah 44:1-9, 21-23, where He says: “But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.  This is what the Lord says, "I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendants." (vs 3)
This first week of May, Guy remembers the “20th anniversary of the dedication of Harvest of Asher. We are thankful for all who throughout the years have kept us in prayer.” (Personally I remember the start of this congregation too, and the challenges they faced in being able to dedicate this house of the LORD 20 years ago.

Avi and Hannah Tekel in Kiryat Yam at Tents of Mercy, spoke of the holiday season that has been taking place in Israel (one more to go with Shavuot/Pentecost). The write about sharing Passover food bags for those in need, and their own “large and lively corporate Seder that was enjoyed by all who attended”.  They send this “this video highlighting some of these important and precious moments.” And they are rejoicing in the “busy season of outreach as well as some new beginnings. Five of our young families are preparing to welcome new lives into the world (two babies have already arrived and we await the rest with joyful anticipation)! We thank God for the bringing forth of new life during a time when our country has suffered so much death and loss. We pray that these positive events will mark this season with hope and positive growth.”
FYI: Tents of Mercy is the congregation that launched both the Harvest of Asher congregation Guy Cohen leads, as well as the Return to Zion Centre of Leon Mazin. And the founder of Tents of Mercy, Eitan Shishkoff, now retired as senior pastor but the head of Fields of Wheat which puts on the Katzir Youth camps and other spiritually oriented events. Shiskkoff’s daughter is married to Avi Tekel, senior pastor at Tents of Mercy. We are talking generations here of Israeli Messianic believers.

Another son of parents (Eddie and Jackie Santoro/Ahavat Yeshua) who have been instrumental in spiritual mentoring and ministry in Israel, is Evan Santoro, who bears great resemblance to his father who graduated to heaven several years ago. Evan is the Station Manager of ShelanuTV (see English link) which is the 24/7 Hebrew language programming of the Gospel and worship online. The content is produced in Israel by Israeli Messianic believers.  Now since the Shelanu studio was  housed in the Dugit property which you read about earlier, ShelanuTV was also out of building for their studio.
But, Evan reports, “We received a call from Dugit's new landlords, and they told us that there was a smaller office on the same floor that was available. Amazingly, it was a perfect space for Shelanu TV! It has very high ceilings, which will be great for our studio as well as space for editing rooms and several offices for our staff. Best of all, it is next to Dugit, so we can continue to work and pray together as we support one another in our mission to bring the Gospel to the people of Israel.
The monthly rent is reasonable at $5,000 and if need be, we can move in now and raise money for the remodeling. The cost of the remodeling, including some new studio equipment, will be around $180,000. I believe that this is a real opportunity for the growth of Shelanu TV in Israel. Having our own space and studio will enable us to produce that much more content in a faster and better workflow than we have today. (In the past) every time we film(ed), we need(ed) to set up and break down the studio since Dugit needs the space on a regular basis for their ministry-based work.  Also, we are currently filming approximately 3 times a week.”
We ask that you prayerfully consider being a part of this new season of Shelanu TV. Donate here

Last but not least from a Facebook post: We have had a couple of milestone major victories this season. We also have been simultaneously majorly spiritually attacked. If you'd remember us, Miriam & Shlomy Abramov in prayer specifically, thank you. I am not much to wear my heart on my sleeve and quite the private one but we could use your prayers. Israel is darker by the hour and we are living the life daily in many ways for the Lord’s calling. We need strength and stamina to stay the course. Feels like we are getting slapped spiritually.
