I didn’t upload Arrows to my blog this past weekend because I only sent out the Weekly Summary to all subscribers because of the outbreak of war. The Weekly Summary has too much sensitive information to be published online. In summarizing for Arrows from Zion I make sure sensitive information that can cause the Israeli ministries trouble is pulled out.
For those of you fainting from getting a 15-page Weekly Summary, just pace yourself and don’t try to read it or pray through it in one sitting. Treat it like a magazine and it won’t be overwhelming.
This is insight and information I cannot communicate in 10 bullet points of data! Some of you need to take a deeper dive into the issues surrounding the Body of Messiah in Israel anyway. I know there is little tolerance for reading these days but this is only going to increase in level of importance of spiritual information you need to know. In the years ahead what you read here will help you put up your own shield of faith against the haters of Jews, Christians, Israel, and Zion. Ultimately these hatreds are but symptoms of hatred of God and against His rule over all lives.
It has been a whirlwind of activity, but it
was just on June 4th, that I sent out a special fundraising appeal to my Weekly Summary & Arrows from Zion subscribers. Hard to
believe it wasn't longer ago but so much has happened since then. I had ‘a debt I couldn't pay' and I'm not
talking about the spiritual debt I can never repay, but a financial debt I
could not pay. I had to act because the clock was ticking. Thank you to one and
all for responding. I have NEVER had such a response! It was a major blessing.
Within 2 days of putting out my
first donation appeal, I heard in my spirit, "I will open the windows of
Heaven." That's a great
thing to hear when you have an urgent need for money, but I wanted to see
what the complete context was. The verse is found in Malachi 3:10 where God
says,
"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD
of Armies. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out
for you blessing without measure."
That week in the Israeli
ministry letters I was coming
across the word "storehouse" in so many of the ministry emails, because
you know, it is a very big part of
what almost all of the Israeli ministries are engaged in within their communities. They have
literal "storehouses" of food and goods in their distribution centers
so they are in a position to help the
needy in their communities with humanitarian aid.
I'm talking Holocaust survivors
living on a mere pittance, same with new immigrants and single parents - the
need is SO GREAT for many reasons
that have nothing to do with poor stewardship of family finances but with sky
high prices of everything in Israel. New immigrants may have been highly paid
professionals in the nation they came from, but
until they can speak Hebrew and qualify for that type position in Israel, it
means lots of lean years. It is worth the hardship to be safer in the Jewish
homeland from. This is the cost of
having to defend your country from the 7 fronts of aggression against their
existence. But God fights for Israel and that is why He is beckoning all
Jews back to the land of promise, escaping the anti-Semitism increasing
worldwide. We know this is biblical.
I don't want to belabor the point but
the need for OUR HELP is great and the Israeli ministries are quite
dedicated to being the practical help their people need. When needs are met and
groceries on the table, those receiving the blessing are touched by uncommon
kindness. Hearts soften to such care. If you give through traditional
Judaism humanitarian work, hearts are not softened to hear about Yeshua. They
may tell Christian donors how they say the help comes through Christians, but
truth is, they oppose any Jew coming to faith in Him as Israel’s only Hope, the
Messiah of Israel! That is the truth of the matter.
When
I read the context of Malachi 3:10, I knew that God was saying to
"Bring the full tithe" of the donations I received "into the
storehouse(s)" of Israeli ministries "so that there may be food
in My house." Seeing the word “storehouse” was an immediate association to the
Israeli ministries distributions centers. I knew instantly God wanted those
storehouses filled up so the ministries in Israel will also have spiritual food
to distribute to the needs of the people.
This war with Iran and the aftermath is a “Kairos Moment”
in building the House of the LORD in Israel. We are to partner with
their labors by filling up their storehouses! Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To everything there is a season, and a
time for every purpose under heaven." There is a season that is the exact moment it is important to
respond to events that are occurring according to the Divine plan.
As for tithing, I know there is much
theological arguing over Christian tithing. Some think it is an "Old
Testament" rule that Christians don't have to follow. Other Christians
believe that Malachi 3:10 is for the purpose of encouraging general tithing to whatever church we go
to. While that is a good general understanding, it is not what God spoke to
me about the verse for this specific season!
In
a season when the international Church is divided in half over whether God even cares
about Israel anymore, I believe God was speaking to the half of
Christians who DO KNOW of His love and intent to restore Israel by faith.
The challenge God issued in Malachi 3:10, for
those with ears to hear, is that God wants us to test His intentions
toward Israel by filling the storehouses of those LIVING IN ISRAEL
dedicating themselves to ministering both natural and spiritual food to their
communities.
For the very first time ever reading this
verse was to me specifically challenging us to help build the House of
the LORD in Israel by tithing into the humanitarian storehouses of the
Israeli ministries. This is a key part of the ministry in Israel. To help their neighbors in need from storehouses
of food and other needs - adult and baby diapers, household needs for new
immigrants, school supplies for new immigrants and the poor, life essentials
for Holocaust survivors – this is a heart opener. The season of picking up the
pieces after war, the season is critical for us to make the decision in the
Kairos moment.
Who does not love those who come
alongside to help them in time of great need? It is not a ploy as the ultra-Orthodox accuse the Israeli ministries – the giving is heartfelt. The ministries do not
want to build great monuments to themselves like the Baháʼí Gardens in Haifa! No! These goods and groceries are from the
longing of the Israeli ministries to do good toward their people who have been
through great difficulties to arrive in Israel. And even the sabra native-born
in Israel living in that Land that has always known the hatred of the 7 front
war Israel is battling.
This
is why the ultra-Orthodox try to run the Israeli ministries out of their cities
– because the ministries of Yeshua bless the needy. The ultra-Orthodox
don’t but they don’t want the ministries to bless the people either! They want control, not to help. This is
why it is so grievous to me that Christians want to send humanitarian funds to
the traditional religious rabbis, but not to the Israeli body of Messiah!
On Monday I began to disperse the
tithe from my special appeal donations back into the Israeli ministries. It greatly blessed me that some Israeli
ministries also responded to help me. We validate the ministry of those we
donate to, and I took it exactly that way. We pour from vessel to vessel to help each other when in need. We also validate the love of the LORD to people who do
not know Yeshua yet, when we reach out to meet their needs. This is the circle
we are completing.
This is encouragement to consider
the Malachi 3:10 challenge to bring a full tithe into the Israeli ministries
storehouses, saying, "Test Me in this,” says the LORD of ARMIES. “See if I
will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without
measure." There has never been a
better time to act on this conditional promise. You may not need a financial
blessing, but blessings come in many forms and God knows what blessings you
have need of.

(Inheritance of Yeshua) in Beer Sheva writes, “Iran sends over a salvo of
ballistic missiles (even supersonic according to some reports)…and hit the Soroka
hospital, which is not far from us). Randi and I went down to our bomb
shelter around 7:00am, and there were numerous booms, and one that was really
huge. But we didn't know if it was a hit, or if a missile had been intercepted.
The house shook, though. There was also some damage at Ben-Gurion Univ
of the Negev across the street from the hospital, not to mention to
residential buildings next to the medical center. Incredibly, just
yesterday, as a precaution, the hospital evacuated the patients who had been in
the building that got directly hit today! Praise the Lord!! Our family is
okay, and so are the other members of the congregation. One of our post-docs,
though, had damage in his laboratory at the university.
Randi
was also supposed to have flown to the US this past Sonday, but that was
cancelled. Our oldest daughter in Phoenix is giving birth to their first
child in early July…. I am still ticketed next Wed to fly to Tulsa, where
Randi would meet me, for our daughter-in-law's medical residency class'
graduation celebration weekend. It's not clear if I will be able to go yet….Randi
needs another ticket, and seating may be a real issue. We pray with hope
that we will both be able to go; if not, our personal plans are subject to
God's over-arching greater plan(ing).

Pastor Moti Cohen of Tiferet Yeshua could not have given a
more timely and on point report on what it has been like for him serving his
reserve duty with the Home Front Rescue Units in Tel Aviv. This is where
the congregation is and close to where he lives with his wife and 6 children. It is especially targeted by Iran because “Tel
Aviv metropolis (what we call Gush Dan) has “the largest concentration of Jews
living anywhere at any time in history.” I
wish I could send you every word of Moti’s report as he describes the
emotional realities of doing rescue in places where you live and know many
people to live there too. Or of how he
is balancing his pastoral and ministry times with operating “a large excavator
which we used to remove concrete beams and slabs under which people might be
trapped” in the same neighborhood one of your worship leaders lives – at one
point finding the body of an 8-year old boy between wrecked cars. As Moti
writes, “The city where we minister is a war zone. … We love this city,
and it’s our calling as a congregation to show the love of God to our city.
. . . This has been a terrifying time for people, and we knew that we had to
make sure everyone in the congregation was ok. Our team embarked on its own
“operation” to get in touch with everyone: we took a day and called everyone
in the congregation personally to make sure they were ok, to see if they needed
any help or support, and to pray with those who needed it. Then in our
team zoom meeting, we all shared our updates about everyone and what the
specific needs are for help and support, spiritually first, and practically.
Our team has been doing an amazing job taking care of everyone,
especially considering the fact that they all live close to areas that have
been hit with missiles, they are themselves running to their safe rooms and
bomb shelters, dealing with the fear and stress of it all, and not getting a
full-night’s sleep.
Please
keep praying for Israel’s protection, for military success in this highly complicated
and unprecedented operation, and for the salvation of the peoples of Israel and
Iran. Please also keep me and
our team in prayer for grace, encouragement and strength during this
challenging time and for protection for all of our congregation members!

“….There’s an amazing story that
illustrates the difference between human attempts to protect and God’s
protection. A ballistic missile from Iran was heading toward the North
of Israel, and unfortunately the IDF failed to shoot it down and failed to
even put on the siren so that people would get into their bomb shelters!
And it hit just three doors down from the family members of two of our
team members. But incredibly, the bomb didn't detonate on impact!
God delivered these people when humans had failed. … God has given
us the amazing privilege of spreading the Gospel constantly here - thousands of
Israelis are watching our evangelistic videos, many are contacting us, some
ordering New Testaments and other materials. A couple days ago, in the
midst of this war, another Israeli woman who had been searching for years just
came to faith in Jesus - hallelujah!
Dov Bikas of the wonderful Aviv Ministry
for Evangelism & Humanitarian aid to Addicts & homeless on Tel Aviv streets writes of the hard
decision they came to: “We truly feel your
love and support. By God’s grace, we are safe – although the stress and lack
of sleep are definitely taking a toll. After much thought and prayer, we
made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Aviv Center. This was not
an easy step, but the reality is very different now compared to previous wars
with Hamas or Hezbollah. Back then, most rockets were intercepted by the
Iron Dome, and even those that got through usually caused relatively limited
damage.
This
time, we are dealing with far more powerful missiles from Iran. Even a single
hit can cause devastating destruction and loss of life. These attacks are often
directed specifically at Tel Aviv, where our soup kitchen is located, since it
is one of the most densely populated area in the Land, so that missiles could
cause the greatest number of casualties. In addition, Aviv Center does
not even have a bomb shelter, so for the safety of our volunteers and visitors,
we are pausing operations in it for now. Thankfully, all our other
projects are continuing with minimal disruption.” Please pray for the addicts and sex workers
that this will be a sobering time for them when they will call upon the name of
the LORD for salvation that they have heard about at the Aviv Center. Pray for
all those who volunteer at the AVIV Centre too, and of course Dov, Olga and all
their team.

pastor Dani Sayag’s sweet wife and translator (from Hebrew to English), wrote
of the weekly Torah portion that as so often it does, seemed especially
relevant to what Israel is going through. It is the account of the 12 spies who
went into the Promised Land with 10 focusing on the challenges of giants but
two understanding, “If Adonai is pleased
with us, He will lead us into that land and will give it to us—a land flowing
with milk and honey….Adonai is with us! Do not fear them” (Num 14:8,9). The
promise was that God would be with them, just as He promises to be with us.”
“Last Friday, our Home Front
Command issued a directive that no gatherings are to take place. For this
reason, we held our Shabbat meeting on zoom for our local congregation. In his message, Dani
shared from the story of Jehoshaphat. Watch Dani’s message by clicking

seen on the hearts of so many in the letters the past week: “Pray for the Iranian
people, many of whom love Israel. We join them in praying for their land to be set
free from the tyranny of the cruel Islamic regime that has ruled since 1979.” It
is a Heavenly perspective to grasp this.
But
they need TOOLS to equip the teams for action and help thousands in need in
this critical time in Israel’s history. We want to open yet another
building to house these brave team members, but it needs renovation. We have

Israel shares, “My
husband is stuck in the Netherlands. He is one of the Israelis who hope to fly
home soon with an EL AL rescue flight (Please pray for him).
Several
friends of mine from Haifa have temporarily moved in with me, as well as an
elderly widow who does not have a bomb shelter. Together we are running
back and forth to the shelters, keeping up with the news, holding emergency
prayer meetings for Israel, answering hundreds of phone calls, and keeping
close contact with our community. We are very tired from long nights of not
sleeping and constant alarms going off. But still praising God in the midst of
the storm!”
…. Seven years ago a friend of mine
had a dream about freedom in Iran. She is an Iranian refugee who came to
know Jesus in dreams. She had this dream on the birthday of King Cyrus. In
her dream she prayed for the Lord God of Israel to have mercy on her nation for
the sake of Cyrus who helped the Jews return from exile. In her dream she saw a pack of wolves
in her country and then she saw the Israeli army come in and cast out the
wolves, and brought freedom back to Iran. Now, 7 years later,
we see this is happening. In the dream the Israeli
army came into Iran with a slogan “In the land of freedom, there is no room for the
devil.” Amen, let's proclaim that
together! We are praying for the Iranian people to be set free from their
oppression soon. 80% of the people of Iran want their freedom back. Israel
is giving them an amazing opportunity. But they also need to rise up with great
courage against their oppressors. Yesterday Netanyahu said: “Cyrus the great
liberated the Jews, now it’s our turn to liberate the Iranian people.” We
pray and know that only God can do this…. we know we are never alone. Because
if God is for you, who can be against you. Though times are hard… God has the
victory for Israel. God chose Israel and He told his people to return to the
land. He will not forsake us or leave us.
David & Josie Silver Out of Zion Ministries is providing great information and insight with their weekly emails. Stefan Silver wrote this one, “In God we Trust. This is not just a slogan on a dollar bill, it is the reality of life in Israel, especially over the past year and a half. We’ve been through a lot in the past 623 days of war, but this week of "Operation: Rising Lion" has been unlike anything we’ve experienced so far. Some who lived through the Gulf War, when Saddam Hussein rained down Scud missiles on Israel some 34 years ago, reference to then as a somewhat similar situation…. Iran has been hit hard, but also Israel's Homefront has sustained unprecedented loss and damage….it seems that Israel is banking on the United States to enter the war and help finish what it started. Israel doesn’t have the weaponry required to do so on its own from the air. There are other methods to get the job done, but they will greatly endanger Israeli Defense Forces. Ultimately, Israel will do what is necessary, and we must continue praying fiercely that for its success…. yet ultimately it is in God that we must trust, not in horses or chariots, not in jets or missiles – for they will eventually fail and fade.
From Restoration from Zion, Dan & Patty, Ben & Lorena Juster’s joint family ministries, comes a great message from Patty Juster and this time the focus is only on what she is reporting about “a dream that I had over twenty years ago is finally coming to pass!… the dream of a healing center? Well it is happening. Being spearheaded by our son-in-love, Jonathan Moore, and Evan Levine of HaTikvah Project, we are beginning a pilot program which we hope will expand into the full center for healing trauma and house other ministries. . . .It is so amazing how many across the country have had on their heart the ministry of healing those who have been traumatized. The need is so great now as the whole country is in PTSD.... this all was going to take place on a kibbutz in the Galilee but those plans fell through. Now they will be holding this ministry at the kibbutz Zuba which is right across the street from the building I saw in my dream. As you might remember, on top of this building was written in Hebrew the words “מלון מרופה” which means “Healing Hotel” also the words “״גן חיים״ which means “Garden of Life.”...Several Messianic believers in Israel independently envisioned this building to house a healing center....
In 2003 right before coming to Israel to start Ulpan, I went through a terrible period of time following several traumatic events in my life. I was in so much emotional pain that I thought that I would die. Once while driving in the car I cried out in desperation to God at the top of my lungs “Jeeesssuuusss!!!” knowing that only he could help me. Immediately a miracle happened—God lifted off of my heart all the deep pain and grief, and I burst into joy! … God tenderly spoke to my spirit and said, “I am so sorry you had to go through all this suffering but I am sending you to Israel with the treasure of the knowledge that I am the only one who can cure the incurable wound in the heart of my people.” Just like he healed my deep trauma so he will heal those in Israel…. It is our hope that many internationals will be joining us in this ministry center just like my dream.
