When a cold heart forgets Joseph
Anti-Semitism is growing— not in a hot house
— but from a cold heart

As anti-Semitism explodes across the Western world, it’s now commonplace to see formerly thoughtful media commentators aiming arrows of Jew-hatred in every direction.
New and rabid conspiracy theories accuse Jews of all the old medieval blood-libels – and then some!
From false charges of dual loyalty and treason, to allegations of world Jewish conspiracy led purportedly by the Israeli intelligence agency MOSSAD – these dog-whistle smears are now fair game, coming mostly from the unhinged and unbalanced side of America’s right wing….on the left side of America’s political aisle are … embracing Hamas and Islamist talking points, leveling charges of genocide as official Israeli governmental policy.
In an unusual activist maelstrom, elements of both Left and Right in the West are paddling their canoes into the center of the political aisle, crashing onto turbulent and rocky anti-Semitic waters. This dynamic reminds one the new forms of anti-Semitism which arose during the 1800’s.
They focused on supposed secret Jewish societies which (so they said) control the world, all banks and all national economies; foster the spread of all non-Christian worldviews; dictate the direction of all media and movie companies, etc. Their teachings focused on a supposed Jewish occult secret society called ‘the Illuminati’ who, according to this satanic perspective, created both capitalism and communism in order to enslave all Gentiles. … any anti-Christian development in popular culture is instigated by Jews; America’s banks and entertainment industries are secretly being directed by anti-Christ Jews; any American support of the Jewish state is another example of Jewish anti-Christ control of the superpowers.
Such views were popular within the Nazi hierarchy and championed by Joseph Goebbels. They are widely held in the Islamic world, and have a strong measure of popular support in the former Communist Bloc. Many of these ideas have re-appeared in anti-Zionist and anti-Israel movements. Some Evangelical groups who advocate for BDS (boycott of Jewish products from Israel) do not see the irony that their own actions and beliefs are strikingly similar to those Nazi who boycotted Jewish shops and goods in Germany of the 1930’s.
These ideas crystallized in a forgery by Pavel Krushevan, an ultra-nationalist and stridently anti-Semitic journalist active in the Black Hundreds and in the Kishinev pogrom. In 1903 he published The Protocols of the Elders of Zion in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This booklet was a clumsy fabrication, with approximately 160 passages plagiarized from a French original that never mentioned Jews.
The Protocols ostensibly reports discussions among a secret group of Jewish elders, regarding plans to subvert Christian civilization and erect a world-wide Zionist state. According to the book’s worldview, the rise of liberalism has provided Jews with the tools to destroy Christian institutions ….Their plan is to take control of the world as revenge against Christianity. The text focuses on supposed Jewish control of banking, media and elections. It is stated that a new world order will be manipulated and directed by this cunning elite, who have purportedly schemed throughout the ages – planning to enslave humankind until the end of time….Eventually the Protocols were used to blame Jews for the Russian Revolution.
Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate once said, “If ever a piece of writing could produce mass hatred, it is this one . . . This book is about lies and slander.” The blowback of these anti-Semitic floods in the 1930’s led to state-sponsored anti-Semitism, street attacks, the rounding up and imprisonment of Jews and eventually genocide – coming from both Hitler’s Reich and Stalin’s Soviets. Though many today are blind to the lengthening shadows, the world is about to revisit those days once again.
Moses unpacks similar dynamics in his own day | A formerly friendly pro-Semitic Pharaonic Empire morphed into an anti-Semitic and genocidal dictatorship. The resulting slavery and torturous treatment of the Jewish people by Egypt jump-started the ‘blessing-cursing’ dynamic of the Abrahamic Covenant in Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed!”
The evil transition in Egypt started through cold-heartedness in the heart of imperial leadership. Fear of the Jewish people opened the door to callousness, and eventually to a murderous ruthlessness on the part of the Pharaohs. (Exodus 1:5-10) and (Exodus 2:23-25)
The Jewish people – the heart of the matter | When a nation’s leaders or spokesmen and women aim their verbal spears at Isaac’s progeny, the foundations of that country are at risk. YHVH is emotionally invested in what happens to Jacob’s children: “In all their affliction He was afflicted” (Isaiah 63:9) | “For YHVH of armies says this: ‘After glory He has sent me against the nations that plunder you, for the one who touches you, touches the apple of His eye’” (Zechariah 2:8)
God is all about the heart | The Scriptures keep driving this point home: the God of Israel spotlights the heart, and He is looking for a process which will lead to a changed heart in His followers: “Do not let kindness and truth leave you! Bind them around your neck! Write them on the tablet of your heart” (Proverbs 3:3) | Also Proverbs 7:2-3, Jeremiah 31:33, Ezekiel 11:17-19, 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, and Ezekiel 36:24-28.
A cold heart brings about a cold result | Messiah Yeshua gave us a way to take the pulse of our nation and our planet: When men’s and women’s heart grow cold, our world is in danger: “And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold” (Matthew 24:12) | “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)
Taking the temperature of the world’s heart concerning the Jewish people | Many people will be shocked to discover that Messiah Yeshua will be judging the nations when He returns – weighing the spiritual temperature of their hearts vis-à-vis the Jewish people. | “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me’” (Matthew 25:34-40)
Matthew refers to the Jewish people as ‘the brothers of Yeshua’ and ‘the descendants of Abraham.’ These are New Covenant conceptual terms for the Jewish people: "For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for this reason, He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, saying, 'I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; In the midst of the [Temple] Assembly, I will sing Your praise!' . . . Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. For clearly, He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendants of Abraham! (Hebrews 2:10-16)
A practical way to counter-act anti-Semitism in our day involves standing with and protecting the Jewish people in their hour of need. Matthew 25:31-46 can become a basis for meditation, encouragement and challenge regarding how we will stand with Yeshua’s Jewish brethren.
If you are not quite sure how to go about this, here is an initial helpful idea: whatever talking heads like Tucker Carlson or Candace Owen suggest what to believe, what to think or what to do regarding the Jewish people or the Jewish state – do just the opposite!
Suppressors of the truth | “In war, truth is the first casualty,” said the Greek playwright Aeschylus. The Apostles Paul and John added some thoughts here which speak directly to our fast-morphing society: "Therefore, Pilate said to Him, 'So You are a king?' Jesus answered, 'You say correctly that I am a king. For this purpose I have been born, and for this I have come into the world: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.' Pilate said to Him, 'What is truth?' (John 18:37-38. Additional scriptures quote: Genesis 6:5-13, 2 Timothy 3:13, Romans 1:18, Romans 1:23, Hebrews 4:12)
How shall we then pray? | As we pray for our country, our city, our congregation, our family and our friends, let us ask God to soften the hearts of all these people | Let us ask the God of Jacob to have mercy on all these people | Let us ask the God of Israel to keep our own hearts tender, and not become bitter as lawlessness increases | Pray for the raising up of Ezekiel’s prophetic Jewish army throughout the earth.

Tikkun Global in a call for
prayer over the Syrian Druze Emergency wrote, A few
months ago, we published an article
explaining the background of the situation in Syria, with a particular emphasis
on the Druze population. Looking back, the
article seems particularly relevant and even more so today. One crucial
excerpt: In crying out to Israel for
help the Druze reported that “over one thousand people were slaughtered! These are not collateral casualties in a
declared, legitimate war, but planned ISIS-style terror warfare. The horrors
include public executions, throwing children off roofs, and religious
humiliation - all designed to intimidate the Druze population into submission.
. . . and still after responding to the Druze call for help “Western
diplomatic and media forums were quick to condemn Israel for aggression.”

As Ronit Bender in Isfiya shared how her life went during the Iranian war (she does not have access to a nearby bomb shelter) she also wrote about the first war she was in. It was the 1956 Sinai War. “It was a scary time for this 6-year-old.” She the Iranian war was different. It ‘only’ took 12 day but those “missiles sent from Iran and their explosions were felt, as so many places got either hit directly or felt the blow.” She had to do shopping and was caught having to run to a crowded grocer safe room with no air conditioning. In the crowded heat one woman fainted and Ronit says, “It was like scenes from a horror movie.” But on those days when Ronit was stuck inside, she had a lot of “communicating with people around the world, answering questions and correcting what was going on here, as most of the world's media were and continue to be against Israel, twisting news to their bias. And for locals I found myself encouraging people on the phone, as fear was very real. I had opportunities to share the Gospel with people who do not believe yet. So time was not wasted.” On one days she was at her hairdresser friend’s salon “a minute before I was going to leave the salon, but the Lord told me to stay. An Arab woman named Y came in. She has just been through Chemo treatment and although declared free of cancer, she feels very weak and sick. As she came in and saw me, she ran towards me asking me for a hug. Tears were running down my face as I embraced her. Right there in the middle of that salon, a Jewish woman was hugging an Arab one. This is how real peace comes to the Middle East: through the embrace of Yeshua! She would not let go, and it became very quiet in the room, as I prayed for her.” In another encounter Ronit regularly sees, the woman who is a waitress wanted Ronit to take a picture with her. “She told me that when I hug her, she feels safe.” And this is the point: “My prayer is from Isaiah 32:2, "A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land," that WE who are BELIEVERS IN YESHUA WILL BE A HIDING PLACE FOR THOSE THAT NEVER MET HIM YET! The next verse is the results of that protective space: The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen."
At Revive
Israel they report similar: “we’ve
been experiencing the gentle rhythm of God’s grace in both simple moments and
meaningful connections…. This week, we hosted a Sunset Market on the
moshav, a peaceful time to come together as the air cooled and the light
softened. We set out fresh vegetables from our farm, brewed coffee, and
served natural juices. Locals and visitors joined not just to shop, but to
slow down, connect, and share life. In these simple moments of hospitality,
through smiles, conversations, and the warmth of being together, we find
these Kingdom touchpoints…. That same heart of connection is being
carried abroad this week as Tal travels in France…. Pray that eyes will be
opened and hearts awakened to deeper revelation of God through His Word and His
people.”
Also Healing
Hearts with Equine Therapy |….For over a decade, Revive Israel has
partnered with King David’s Stables to bring healing to children of Messianic
single parents, many of whom carry deep emotional wounds from abandonment,
loss, and hardship. These riding sessions aren’t just therapeutic; they are
holy moments where God restores dignity, identity, and hope. Children once
violent or withdrawn begin to smile, speak, and dream again. . . . Every year,
40 children enter this space of healing, learning not just to ride, but to
reignite their God-given confidence and come into alignment with His divine
order (Genesis 1:28). This is pure devotion, caring for the widows and
orphans of today (James 1:27). Click to learn

Leon Mazin of the Return to Zion Center in Haifa has announced a really exciting project
that will bring all sorts of tourists and citizens in the way of a Historical Exhibition in
Haifa's German Colony. It will be a permanent, professionally
curated exhibition that chronicles the journey of the Jewish people—from
the Babylonian exile to modern-day Israel—highlighting God’s faithfulness, the fulfillment of
biblical prophecy, and the miraculous restoration of our people. More than a timeline, this
exhibition will be a living testimony—connecting visitors to the heartbeat
of Scripture, Jewish heritage, and
the unfolding story of redemption through Yeshua.”
Leon writes, “Like the successful model at Beit
Immanuel in Jaffa, our vision is to attract hundreds of Israeli
visitors each month—including Hebrew and Russian speakers—who will
come for cultural and historical interest and, in doing so, encounter the
Gospel in a natural and meaningful way.
“Join Us in Making History | This exhibition will serve as a
bridge—between past and present, faith and culture, visitors and the message of
salvation. By supporting this project, you help build a testimony that will
outlast us, one that will bring light to many and glorify the God of Israel. We
invite you to stand with us as we create this permanent space for restoration,
learning, and Gospel impact. Got questions in regards to this project? Feel
free to ask by email. (Donna: In fact, write Leon and ask to be sent this
email. This is such a fantastic vision with super potential to draw Israelis.)
Leon’s most recent email is about
the 12-day Iranian war: “Twelve days spent in bomb shelters were like a
crucible of the soul. It was a time of fear, but also a time of grace.
We can say with confidence: faith is the anchor of the soul. Many of our
brothers and sisters from the Congregation found themselves not
just seeking refuge but becoming refuge for others. In crowded public shelters, they
became vessels of God’s comfort, bearing peace where fear reigned. It was
not that they were without fear—but that they carried light in spite of it.
Today,
physicians and mental health professionals speak of a wave of depression,
“cracked teeth” from night-time grinding, and a rise of panic attacks.
These are merely outward symptoms of the pressure the people have
endured. Fear, sorrow, anxiety—all of these have passed through our land and
left their marks, not only on buildings and bodies, but deep inside, on
people’s hearts.
And yet,
into this silence, a voice speaks. Words from prophet Joel (2:23–26) have begun
to stir in our hearts like a prophetical response of healing. A cry. And a hope.

Sally Shiff, an intercessor in the Kfar Saba
congregation HaMaayan, has written an update 6 days a week since Oct 7th,
2025. In the last two she explains so much of what just happened between Syria
and Israel and I’m here to tell you that your news & talking heads
commentators are not telling the whole story. Israel had to go in to protect
the Druze, after Israeli Druze crossed the border to go to defense of their
Syrian Druze brothers. She writes, “IDF troops
identified dozens of suspects attempting to infiltrate Israeli territory from
the area of Hader in Syria. IDF and Israeli Border Police forces are operating
to prevent the infiltration and disperse the gathering. Simultaneously,
several Israeli civilians crossed the border fence into Syrian territory in the
area of Majdal Shams. IDF troops are currently operating to safely return
the civilians who crossed the border. The IDF emphasizes that this is a
serious incident constituting a criminal offense and endangers the public and
IDF troops. The troops continue to monitor developments and remain prepared
both in defense and offense for various scenarios.
IDF: Following last night’s series
of strikes against Syrian regime forces, the Chief of the General Staff, LTG
Eyal Zamir, instructed the reinforcement of intelligence gathering means,
strike capabilities, as well as the redeployment of troops to the Northern
Command in order to accelerate the pace of strikes and halt the attacks
against the Druze community in Syria. The
IDF is committed to the deep alliance with the Druze community and
is therefore conducting strikes against military targets throughout Syria to
defend them in the as-Suwayda region, Jabal al-Druze, and wherever necessary.
The 210th Division’s sector will be reinforced with additional troops along the
border area and at outposts within the security zone. The uncontrolled
crossing of the border into Syria endangers both the Druze community and our
soldiers, and must be stopped immediately.
IDF: The
IDF Continues to Strike Military Targets of the Syrian Regime in Southern Syria
| The IDF, guided by IDF intelligence, continues to strike military targets
belonging to the Syrian regime in southern Syria. In recent hours, several
armored vehicles loaded with heavy machine guns and weapons that were on the
way to the As Suwayda area in southern Syria were struck. Additionally, firing
posts, weapons storage facilities, and additional Syrian regime military
targets in southern Syria were struck.
The IDF continues to monitor
developments and the regime's actions against Druze civilians in southern Syria.
In Gaza: Chief of the General
Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir: "We will ensure that Gaza no longer poses a
threat to the State of Israel for
generations to come. . . . We will continue
striking terrorists relentlessly until the defeat and dismantlement of Hamas.
On
another day Sally asks for prayers about Replacement Theology and the rise of
anti-Semitism. She writes: Israel ‘Replacement
Theology’ Controversy Goes Mainstream | This whole issue is dear to my
heart. Raised completely Jewish, where my grandparents founded 2 synagogues,
and I attended shabbat services all my childhood, when I came to faith in
college, I had to learn how to be a believer. My church did not understand the
revelational importance of the relationship between God and my people, and
slowly my Jewish identity was striped away. I had to learn to be a
"Christian" instead of a "Messianic Believer in Yeshua". It
was not until I received a revelation from God of who I am in Christ. (if I
have lost you here, bear with me, I will be happy to better explain in a
separate personal email between you and me).
Here also is an exceptional news article from June
8, 2025 from the Assemblies of God news publication.
Antisemitic
Attacks Renew Concern Among Jewish Christians
Michael Calise, President of the AG
National Jewish Fellowship, addresses the rise of antisemitism and how churches
can respond.
Violent
antisemitic attacks in Washington, D.C. and Boulder, Colorado are underscoring
concerns about the rise of antisemitism throughout the U.S. Recent studies
have shown alarming evidence of the increase in antisemitic rhetoric. Most
Jewish young adults (83%) in the U.S. report to have experienced antisemitism
on social media. Similarly, nine in ten report seeing an increase in
antisemitism since 2023.
Michael Calise, president of the
Assemblies of God National Jewish Fellowship, recently spoke with AG News about
this disturbing trend—a trend that has directly impacted him. “This past week
we received an antisemitic phone call and alerted law enforcement,” Calise
says. “They are currently investigating this matter and trying to find the
individual(s) involved in this. They are also increasing their patrol of our AG
Messianic synagogue along with other synagogues here in New York.”
As a Messianic Jewish believer—a Jewish
follower of Jesus—Calise finds himself at a unique cultural juxtaposition.
“In Jewish communities, my beliefs about Yeshua [Hebrew for Jesus] are often
met with opposition and rejections, as traditional Judaism does not recognize
Jesus as the Messiah,” Calise explains. “In Christian circles, I often find
myself explaining and sometimes even having to defend some Jewish customs and
traditions that may seem unfamiliar to the Christian community, yet are
heartfelt and meaningful expressions of my faith in Yeshua.” Calise is grateful
that this special identity provides him “opportunity to foster dialogue and
understanding in both communities.”
